Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Kelley Baker Brows studio in Venice, California. After seeing various brow artists in Los Angeles over the past six years, I have definitely found the expert! Not only is Kelley a brow shaping genius, she also has an amazing product line so that you can recreate at home what she does in the salon.Continue reading…

In Love with One Love Organics

Renew, relax and transform with One Love Organics.

I’m so excited to share with you this amazing product I’ve been using for the past month! One Love Organics rose aromatic body serum is my new favorite love. Not only is the scent absolutely AMAZING (even my boyfriend approves and he doesn’t normally like floral scents) but it works wonders on your skin! I’ve been using it on damp skin after a shower each morning and my skin has never been softer.  I think I asked my boyfriend to touch my legs like 10 times the first day I started using it. And it has one of those scents that you just keep trying to smell yourself all day. It’s aromatic but not overpowering. It’s literally the most perfect rose scent I’ve every tried.Continue reading…

Shorts and boots for fall in Los Angeles

free-people-boho-bunnie DSC_5956

A few weeks back I visited the newly opened Free People store in Sherman Oaks to celebrate their grand opening…dangerously close to my house! I picked up these awesome smocked shorts that are such and perfect addition to my fall wardrobe in LA since the days are still hot but the nights get cool. I can’t really take credit for this…my boyfriend, who has a surprisingly good eye for fashion, pulled these off the rack and insisted these be the first thing I try on. He was absolutely right. I love how dressy or casual they can be and how unique and flattering they are. These bohemian shorts could have lived in the hills of Laurel Canyon in 1969.Continue reading…

shitkickers-fiddles-bohobunnie

This week’s Freebie Friday is a downloadable font I created! I’ve been messing around with my create-a-font app on my iPad and though I’d share it with y’all. The font is called “Country Star” and is pretty fitting for the moment since I’m going back on tour next week! I absolutely can’t wait to get back on a big stage:) I’ve got a busy week ahead prepping to leave LA for a month…starting next Friday I’ll be blogging from Sin City. Have an awesome Friday and be sure to click on the link below to download your font!

P.S. I turned up the “stroke” size in photoshop…the actual font I created is a little skinner;)

Recreating 1930’s Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich

SAMSUNG CSC

This past weekend I attended my first MAC Pro masterclass at my favorite MAC Pro store on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles! I’ve been a MAC Pro member for the past six years and I’ve always wanted to attend a class led by one of their senior artists, Louise Zizzo. I almost always do my own make-up for stage performance, but sometimes I feel like I get into a rut of doing the same techniques. The theme of the evening was recreating style icons. This night’s particular icon happened to be Marlene Dietrich, an actress from the 30’s known for her thin brows, contoured fair skin and rounded lips.Continue reading…

Celebrate your yoga practice!

ellie-yoga-apparel

Did you know that it’s yoga awareness month?! Being the last few days of the month, there’s still time to get out there and either celebrate your own practice or maybe try a new yoga class for the first time! I’m a huge hot yoga fan…I’ve been practicing Bikram yoga for over 5 years now. I’m so grateful for those days that I come out of class with an extreme yoga high and a rejuvenated and relaxed outlook on anything that I’ve been stressing over recently. I’m lucky that when I go on tour in Las Vegas that I have PLENTY of yoga studios to choose from. But what do you do when you’re out of town and there’s no yoga studios in a 30 mile radius? Lucky for us yogis there’s a new trend going on in hotels…yoga class! I’m excited to share with you an article about the hottest resorts and hotels where you can get your yoga on without leaving the premises!

You probably know that people are doing sun salutations like mad from the Big Apple to the Aloha State, but you may not be aware that September is National Yoga Awareness Month. Created by the Department of Health and Human Services, this month the…

Freebie Friday + $70 PayPal Giveaway!

September 27, 2013

ipad-screensaver-ganesha

Welcome to Freebie Fridays! Every Friday I include links to new designs/doodles/art for you to download and enjoy! I’ve always been fascinated with religious art. I’ve been wanted to do a painting of Ganesha for a while (this Hindu elephant diety) and so I’ve finally done a short sketch. It turns out Ganesha is a patron for the arts and sciences, very fitting!

If you’re on your phone or iPad, click on the link and the image will pop up on your screen. Hold down the image and save it to your camera roll then add it to your home screen, icon screen, etc. If you’re on your computer it will go right into your download folder.

Where can you use this art? Well, I’ve started by offering links to download for all of your handheld devices to use for a home screen, wallpaper, etc. Maybe you want to print it out and use it for wrapping paper, scrapbooking, greeting cards, the sky is the limit. I only ask that if you use it online for something that you link it back to me:) And maybe show a little love…follow me on some of my social media platforms, too!

If there’s some sort of design you would love to see, let me know! I love getting new ideas, cheers!

Grunge & Graphic Tees

Channeling my inner Courtney Love

Skip-n-whistle-grunge (16)

I have been seriously waiting for grunge to come back in style for a while. The flannels, Doc Martin’s, baby doll dresses…I love them all. This era of style brings me back to my middle school years when I was just figuring out the music I liked, the clothes I wanted to wear and the pop icons I worshipped. Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins was plastered all over my locker during these years, and my wardrobe was on rotation of flannels, over sized sweaters, band t-shirts and anything with an emipre waist. I wasn’t allowed to own Doc Martens (my mom thought they were too heavy and would throw out my back) so I settled for my Chuck Taylors and low-top Doc spin-offs made my Easton. I was so obsessed with these shoes, I still remember the smell of the leather and thick rubber sole from when I was thirteen. Fast forward to 18 years later and the updated grunge look rocks even harder, especially with an awesome collection of graphic tees by Skip N’ Whistle!Continue reading…
