It’s been a pretty awesome year…I started the blog, I finished a full year of shows performing in Shania Twain’s band, had some amazing summer excursions to catch six Phish shows with Justin and our friends, and have been loving settling into our house in Sherman Oaks which we purchased just over a year ago. I moved to LA six years ago with a little under 3k and lots of big dreams. When it’s 75 degrees and sunny in the dead of winter in Los Angeles, there’s not a second that I regret leaving the 18 degree frost-scraping mornings in Ohio. Christmas day we went hiking and New Year’s day…maybe that calls for the beach! Can I rub it in a little more? I don’t even own a winter jacket, and I have a box of gloves that are lost somewhere in the garage. With the weather so awesome right now, I’m trying to give my yoga mat a rest and hit the courts more. Just over a week ago I froze my little bum off running for Team Shania to raise money for Opportunity Village in Las Vegas. Honestly, I haven’t run over a mile since high school, so I never imagined I’d be up to anything requiring running shoes. My workouts consists of a mat and a hot, sweaty yoga room so this whole race concept was totally out of my comfort zone. When we heard that Shania Twain would be the Grand Marshall for the race and that there was a “Team Shania,” it was a no brainer that we had to represent the band. So the “stringers” of the band (me: viola & fiddle, Jen: violin & fiddle, Mandy: cello & fiddle) and Shania’s sister and vocalist, Carrie, carried the torch for our bandmates and production crew.Continue reading…

I keep telling my boyfriend that I’ve purchased all the fall clothes that I need for this season but the entire fall line at Free People has been very Stevie-centric and I’ve been stocking up. Going through these pictures from our recent shoot I can’t help but think of the unintended combination of accessories I acquired…Holy Bilbe clutch, Wiccan stars, skull bead bracelet, knee high boots and a gin elixir served up. I’ve been in a dark place when it comes to fashion recently.  Dark as in a gothic, grungy, 70’s Laurel Canyon mysticism, bohemian, gypsy rock.
