Aloha from Maui

It’s been a crazy 12 weeks of traveling! I keep looking back at my calendar and can’t believe all of the amazing places I’ve been able to travel to this year. Most of which have been my first visit! Hawaii is one of those firsts for me. I had the wonderful opportunity to perform on the island for an extravagant Indian wedding AND have some downtime to relax. I even had time send out emails and write blog posts from an ocean front patio (with a little help from homemade rum runners) and of course play in front of the camera with a wonderful local Maui photographer. All while wearing a dress that couldn’t be more fitting for the islands by Pachamama Bohemian & the ultimate beach slide-ons from the Avarca Store. This outfit was seriously my uniform for the week. Bugenvilas, enchanting banyan trees and of course the serene beaches of the islands are so picturesque for everything Maui, and I’m grateful I got to capture the beauty of the islands for my blog!Continue reading…

Arima Yoga Wear

Every year around this time I feel especially grateful for my yoga practice. It was almost exactly eight years ago today that I decided to make a complete lifestyle change. I was extremely active with competitive sports growing up, I played field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, ran cross country, track and field, enough sports to guess I was the biggest jock in high school. In fact I was so far from that with all of my music and art related activities that when I left high school and started a rigorous music conservatory training that working out was the absolute last thing on my list. I would take smoke breaks during my 8 hour practice sessions, attend regular happy hour events and one summer while attending Aspen Music Festival for nine weeks, I made a pact to drink with my friends every single night. Heavily. I’m assuming this isn’t much different from most people’s college experience but moving to LA sure as hell didn’t help. I was running amongst the socialites at all the hot night clubs and would be at after hours parties multiple days a week until the sun came up. Do I regret any of this? Absolutely not! Did it need to stop? In the worst way ever, yes! My friend took me to a Bikram yoga class which was probably the most intense work out I had ever experienced next to my two-a-day summer field hockey practices running suicides in 90 degree weather and thick humidity. Bikram was the one thing I knew would kick my ass and get me back in gear. In May 2008 I started attending yoga class 5 days a week and I had literally never felt better. I’ve been hooked on yoga ever since and feel so grateful for the instructors that pushed me back into a healthy lifestyle. So naturally I’m a sucker for anything yoga related and these rad threads from Arima Yoga Wear are no exception.Continue reading…

Boho beads & gypsy florals.

The week I can finally switch out a handful of my winter boots for sandals is officially the start of spring fashion for me. Nothing screams spring more than silk floral prints. I’m always a sucker for bold colors but mixing with white gives them a fresh spring feel.Continue reading…

Modern Magpie

Eclectic Mixing with Shopbop.

modern-magpie-vintage-ted-lapidus-velvet-brocade-sunnies-platforms-and-socks 9

I’ve always been a sucker for the ultimate vintage find. When one of the most complimented pieces in your closet comes from the $10 table of your favorite vintage vendor at the flea market, it’s better than the first day of markdowns on the Nordstrom shoe rack. All these items kinda came together in a fun, quirky way. Some of these bangles my mom used to rock in the 70’s, the denim jacket was the best hand-me-down I’ve every received, and the dress was in fact one of those $10 purchases. All mixed together with some modern jewels, platforms and designer moonies. Inspired by the Modern Magpie collection of Shopbop, this outfit was a fun experiment of how far I could play around this look. And just in time for spring Shopbopping…

Spring Sale is here! 15% off $250, 20% off $500, and 25% off $1000 with code BIGEVENT16! Shop through March 5th.

Don’t you turn your back on love

It was one of those Sundays at the Melrose Trading Post that I literally came looking for one item and left with way more than I should have. Scouring the racks for a simple vintage black gypsy dress, this gem of a cape caught my eye and I instantly knew I wasn’t leaving the lot without it. Psychedelic velour flowers that should be on the raddest couch of all time but made into a brass-buttoned cape for me to wear? Heaven. I had no luck bargaining the seller down (I walked back THREE times with a different offer) but caved anyway. Before I even had a chance to dry clean the vintageness outta it, I brought it down to Long Beach to meet up with my girl Ashley Myers to do an impromptu shoot after a few early afternoon beers. Continue reading…

Liberty Garden

All cozied up in everything faux.

liberty-garden-boho-bunnie-vegan-suede-fur-bed-stu-holiday-fashion 24

I’ve become such a cold weather wimp. Growing up in wind chill temperatures that would shut down a school district, you think I could brave the California winter that dips just below 40 degrees. Not one bit. I wrap myself in my ginormous comforter every faux fur throw that I own until the last minute that I run into the scalding hot shower. I can’t imagine a cozier and cuter faux fur sweater and faux suede pants that gets me through the cool Cali holiday weather and festivities. If you’re aren’t hip to Liberty Garden, literally EVERYTHING in their line is to die for. An awesome mix of 70’s retro, with a little western glam. And if you wanna feel all done up but in the comfort level of never leaving your morning covers, you’ve gotta snatch this outfit up!

The scallop laser cut detailing with the studs on these vegan suede leggings is luscious. And this ring…another masterpiece from Flea Market Girl.Continue reading…

And the secrets that we shared, the mountains that we moved.

BohoBunnie

Bold embroidery, metallic ribbon, and playful cotton prints. If you haven’t noticed it’s been a week of posts from one of my absolute favorite bohemian designers, Pachamama Bohemian. The bold purple peppermint wheel ribbon that divides and trims the cut of the dress is so perfectly paired with bright aqua print. The fun part about pairing items with Pachamama Bohemian is that really any color combination goes. Neutrals and neons, brights and metallics, they all somehow mesh together and create gorgeous combinations.Continue reading…

I want to rock your gypsy soul.

BohoBunnie

Beads, spice and everything nice. Pachamama Bohemian is full of mystic treasures to adorn your gypsy soul. Ancient coins, intricate bead work and stunning embroidery are all staples in Pachamama Bohemian’s shop. I’ve been a huge fan of her designs since I started the blog, and I must say a good portion of my closet is dedicated to her amazing threads. A little boho, a little gypsy and a little rockstar all in one. Her clothes couldn’t define me more perfectly.Continue reading…

Over the hills and far away…

Boho-Bunnie-pachamama-bohemian-fashion-blogger-white-maxi-billi-blues-viola-viddle-00325

There’s nothing like a gorgeous and comfortable maxi dress. One you can dress up, dress down, give it a western flair or an ultra luxe gypsy vibe. While white cotton is normally reserved for summer, this prairie dress from Pachamama Bohemian has me seeing white all year round. I was so excited to finally wear this vintage belt of my aunt’s that I’ve been eyeing for the past five years. During my trip to Michigan this summer, my aunt Moodge generously gifted me her most amazing vintage feather belt that I couldn’t help but ask for every time I visited. I’m thrilled to finally share this treasure on my blog and pair it with a dress from one of my all time favorite bohemian designers.Continue reading…

LA Fashion Week

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Fashion Show

With my crazy busy double life as a musician and blogger, I was excited to be able to make it to at least one LA fashion week event this fall! Living in one of the biggest fashion meccas (and starting my own clothing line in this very city) I had grand plans of attending inspiring runway events, after parties and the like during one of the biggest weeks for the LA fashion scene. I was honored to be invited to this special runway show that benefited Susan G. Komen for the Cure. A handful of local businesses showcased their clothing lines, beauty products and even a few gourmet food goodies. This fashion show happened to be on one of those days where I went from rehearsal to recording session, to appointment, to photo shoot and then finally the event. When I’m running all over LA, the one thing I absolutely don’t leave home without is a full water bottle. Core Hydration does it right with pH balanced water in two extremely convenient sized bottles. Even on my longest days ever I can sustain energy without 5 lattes! Continue reading…

Night Moves

October 23, 2015

BohoBunnie

Ain’t it funny how the night moves.

BohoBunnie

Hollywood nights. Just as the temperature has started to break, California evenings call for the perfect little moto jacket. Project Gravitas has created my personal favorite in a vegan leather version. Just a shade away from black, this dusted midnight color breaks up an all-black look and stays neutral enough to mix with prints. Day to night, business to party, this staple will last you years to come.Continue reading…
