Sand Shapes
Musings in the desert
Glitter, sequins, thigh highs and body suits in the desert, why not? From my 4th visit to Joshua Tree, I can confirm that just about anything goes. There’s a whole mix of locals that live in my favorite getaway in the desert that keep the burning man fashion alive all year, there’s true grit cowboys, Gram Parsons wannabes and anything in between. Therefore headed into a coffee shop with a next-to-nothing space age outfit equipped with sparkly tights rarely turns heads. But what better way than rolling around in the sand to show off some desert reflections. The next time Ashley and I will be making sand art will be in just a few months on the islands of Greece. While I’m always missing my Joshua Tree skyline, I have a feeling the Grecian islands will suffice.
Cheers to summer, my sand bunnies.

Kozmic Blues
I keep pushing so hard a dream,
I keep trying to make it right.
It’s officially day one in Italy. The beginning of a four month tour in Europe (and a short stint in Tunisia). In the middle of trying to beat jet lag, I’ve become deeply immersed in the Grateful Dead documentary “Long Strange Trip” so everything is seemingly pretty ‘kozmic’ right now. Also fitting for this blog post title, LA based fashion designer GM Studio LA designed this dress with inspiration from Janis Joplin. And to bring it full circle, Cinzia Simone (the designer), is Italian herself. I can’t believe this is just the beginning of the summer tour with Zucchero. Today we film a music awards show here in Verona (starting to feel like a second home), and the festival tour officially begins on June 16th in Germany. This dress is one of those pieces I could show up with in heels or roll out of the tour bus with cowboy boots. I’m so in love with the cut and kozmic flow of it all.
“There’s a fire inside of everyone of us, huh-uh,
I’m gonna need it now,
I’m gonna hold it yeah,
I’m gonna use it till the day I die.”

Palace of Fine Arts
Zucchero, San Francisco 2017
This shoot in San Francisco with Jay Blakesberg was something I wasn’t expecting to happen for years down the road. The whole connection happened when Jay released his book, Hippie Chick, an amazing photo collection of true free-spirited female festival goers starting from the early Grateful Dead years. Through a little help from social media, Jay and I connected for a collaboration here on Bohemian Bunnie. We met in person at his book signing where by complete coincidence he featured a photo of my decorated envelope for the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well shows. Literally he featured five envelopes that he photographed while at the Stinson Beach headquarters out of nearly 30,000 mail order ticket requests. From that meeting, Jay graciously invited me to perform with the all female fronted band at Terrapin Crossroads for his book release party. Having been a fan of the Dead since I was twelve, being invited to perform at Phil Lesh’s club with musicians that are part of the Grateful Dead community, for the Grateful Dead’s main photographer, was an insanely incredible honor. At that show I told Jay I couldn’t wait for the day that he would photograph me on stage, full on rock star style. That day came just 18 months later in San Francisco on March 19th, 2017 at Palace of Fine Arts. Just before the show we shot around the exterior of the venue, one of the most beautiful venue exteriors of the tour this past year. Thank you, Jay, for this amazing shoot! It’s so fun when events come full circle.
