Rock-a-Hoola abandoned waterpark, California.
Justin and I are always on the lookout for new places to shoot. We’ve been eyeing this location for the past couple years every time we drive back and forth from Vegas. This past trip back from Vegas we had about a 40 minute time frame to pull off and find a location. There’s so many desolate places off the I-15 but this has to be the most unique.
The entire park is covered in graffiti and is so deserted and eeriely quiet that I let out a yelp when a beer can was picked up by the wind and tumbled across the sidewalk 100 yards away. My car was parked outside the gated park, and believe me I was ready to run if I had to.
I’ve been coveting some overalls since the beginning of this season and I finally decided to take the plunge. I found these Blank NYC bibs at Nordstrom while I was staying in Vegas. They’re stretchy denim and fit tighter than the typical overall but just loose enough to give it a slouchy feel. So comfortable they could double as PJ’s.
These sneakers are the only pair of sneakers that I own that are not my gym or tennis shoes. I’m a boot girl! But honestly, I think I’ve been converted. I’m in love with these Daddy’s Money high tops (with a hidden wedge) and definitely need to invest in a few more pairs.
My favorite vintage tee…picked up from the Melrose Trading Post in LA.
We took a handful of Polaroids with the 440…one of Justin’s many Polaroid cameras that come on adventures with us.

LOVE LOVE those sneakers! They remind me of converse a bit.

Totally like converse:) The little hidden wedge heel is so much fun…such a good idea!
I love these, such an awesome location!!!
Thanks, Carly! I was scared out of my mind shooting these photos…literally thought someone was gonna jump out of hiding. That place is so abandoned haha.

Awww, thanks so much Jo-Anne!
What fun! I wonder what happened to poor Rock-a-Hoola? 🙂
Ha! Good question…it’s so weird that it’s literally out in the middle of nowhere!

Love this whole look and am especially impressed with how well you pull off the overalls. And those shoes are great! – Katy
Thanks, Katy! Yeah I wasn’t so sure about the overall trend til I tried these on…definitely a new and improved fit from the 90’s:)
