Denim and fall cardigans
Nothing screams fall like all over denim and a warm cardigan. I’ve been in Las Vegas for one week (home for me is LA) and it’s definitely feeling like fall around here. I’m on tour with Shania Twain and the first three shows of this run have been awesome! The nights are super cool in Vegas and the bartender at my local watering hole (i.e. the bar downstairs in the hotel…so yes pretty much like my living room) is offering pumpkin spice martinis. I’m so excited to introduce two new additions to my shop! I’ve recently been inspired to start creating more art. My music career has been keeping me busy (definitely not complaining!) but sometimes it’s hard to find the inspiration and motivation to sit down and decide to do a series of paintings. If you’ve checked out my shop before, you know that my favorite mediums to work in are ink and watercolor. With a little inspiration from a friend to start these paintings, I’ve created two bohemian skulls as part of a larger series of Skulls & Flowers.
These giclee prints are extremely high quality and are printed on heavy watercolor paper. The colors they use to print are basically the same type of ink as the watercolor itself, and the image quality will last over 100 years. I love the deckled edges; not only does the printing process make it look like an original painting, but the torn edges make it look like I came directly from my sketch book:)Continue reading…

Shorts and boots for fall in Los Angeles
A few weeks back I visited the newly opened Free People store in Sherman Oaks to celebrate their grand opening…dangerously close to my house! I picked up these awesome smocked shorts that are such and perfect addition to my fall wardrobe in LA since the days are still hot but the nights get cool. I can’t really take credit for this…my boyfriend, who has a surprisingly good eye for fashion, pulled these off the rack and insisted these be the first thing I try on. He was absolutely right. I love how dressy or casual they can be and how unique and flattering they are. These bohemian shorts could have lived in the hills of Laurel Canyon in 1969.Continue reading…
This week’s Freebie Friday is a downloadable font I created! I’ve been messing around with my create-a-font app on my iPad and though I’d share it with y’all. The font is called “Country Star” and is pretty fitting for the moment since I’m going back on tour next week! I absolutely can’t wait to get back on a big stage:) I’ve got a busy week ahead prepping to leave LA for a month…starting next Friday I’ll be blogging from Sin City. Recreating 1930’s Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich
This past weekend I attended my first MAC Pro masterclass at my favorite MAC Pro store on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles! I’ve been a MAC Pro member for the past six years and I’ve always wanted to attend a class led by one of their senior artists, Louise Zizzo. I almost always do my own make-up for stage performance, but sometimes I feel like I get into a rut of doing the same techniques. The theme of the evening was recreating style icons. This night’s particular icon happened to be Marlene Dietrich, an actress from the 30’s known for her thin brows, contoured fair skin and rounded lips.Continue reading…
