Peaceful Easy Feeling
I like the way your sparkling earrings lay against your skin so brown.
Desert days calls for bright pastels and western patterns. Thank god it was one of those days in the desert that it was still slightly bearable to be outside in the intense sun. After a night out in Joshua Tree the evening before at none other than the Joshua Tree Saloon, we reconnected with one of the very generous and entertaining locals to shoot on site at his property with his vintage car and trailer collection. We literally felt like we hit the jackpot of photo shoot locations…pink stucco walls, a vintage Corvair and two vintage Shasta trailers! One of which we have plans to rent for our Marfa, Texas road trip. Layers of beaded jewels by Boho Global with a desert-style Canadian tuxedo I feel is my new uniform for these trips out west. Born in the USA
Happy 4th y’all!
The Wild West, cowboy hats & Bruce Springsteen…can you get much more patriotic than that? Currently I’m spending my 4th at a music festival performing and teaching in Ohio with plans for Nashville next week. Most of my traveling involves music and last Fourth of July was no exception with the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well shows. If I’m not making music or attending a show, my heart truly belongs in the desert. From my dozens of road trips to Vegas I’ve fallen in love with the open road, desert highways and solo drives with my favorite tunes. Nothing like a break from Los Angeles traffic jams that literally take years off of your life, to drive into vast open space. Don’t get me wrong, I do love LA, but my new found love for Joshua Tree will pull me from the city as much as humanly possible. My favorite western road trip threads? Pink Arrows Boutique vintage tees and comfy cut offs for days.
Lady of the Lake
There’s a magical sound slidin’ over the ground
It’s only fitting that I’m as I’m writing this post with serene images of Crestline Lake that I’m headed to Ohio for a few weeks, and northern Ohio in particular where I spent part of my summers on Lake Erie. Visiting this almost Midwest-like California town for the first time was magical. It completely took me back to my dad’s cottage on the river in Ohio and my aunt’s lake house in Michigan. Such an escape from LA traffic, drought dried grass and hazy skies. I could have stayed a whole week in this humble little town with places to sit and daydream for days. Packing the these rad mountain threads from Femmebot Clothing for this trip couldn’t have been a better decision. Easy, breezy western bohemian pieces that travel so well.Continue reading…
