Light My Fire
Girl, we couldn’t get much higher.
My absolute favorite candle line joined us on our last journey to Joshua Tree. An evening filled with vintage vinyl and the most luxurious scents from Flores Lane is what makes up a perfect desert getaway. Each hand-poured soy candle made in the heart of West Hollywood is named after a particular region of LA and NY. Some of my favorites include the beachy florals of Hermosa Beach and the musky undertones of Venice. Anytime I’m at home I can guarantee a Flores Lane jar or two is illuminated. The scents are vibrant but subtle enough to burn two favorites at the same time. I’m waiting patiently for the lovely ladies of Flores Lane to add even more scents to their arsenal…I know they’d come up with the most perfect rendition of French perfumeries or Italian beach sides.
The white jars have a slightly more feminine and floral touch while the black jars have a little musk and masculinity to them. Whatever you’re in the mood for, there’s a Flores Lane scent for it all.

Desert Dreaming
I can’t think of a better escape right now than under the desert stars in Joshua Tree. The cool evenings in the desert call for lots of layering, blankets and cozying up. Just in time for that time of year when everyone makes the pilgrimage to Coachella Valley for two weekends of music and bohemian fashion overload. Dare I say I’m not a big fan of Coachella (I’ve performed there and I’ve attended) maybe it’s the mass influx of high schoolers who depleated the inventory in every Forever 21 within a 50 mile radius of Los Angeles, or maybe it’s the fact that I can’t stand EDM or most likely the fact that I can’t imagine roaming the grounds without an air conditioned artist trailer filled with booze and beer that I can run to at any moment. Yes I’m pulling out the spoiled artist card, but seriously drop me off at Jazz Fest in NOLA and I’m like a kid in a candy shop. Regardless of what music fest you’re attending or camping at this year, the most essential item to pack in my opinion is this incredible roll up sleeping bag from Sleeping Bag Beauties. Blank, sleeping bag, pillow case, eye mask all in one and rolls up into the most adorable little pack that can make the trek with you anywhere.
Enjoy the start to your festival season, my bunnies!

Ruby Ribbon Coachella Giveaway
Win a pair of tickets to Coachella weekend one!
It’s hard to think ahead for festival season fashion when I’m en route to Montreal looking out of the tour bus window at piles of snow. Yes, I am a midwest girl but a true desert girl at heart. Shorts and boots will forever by my staple. Traveling so much has definitely honed my packing skills but even with the minimal packing for this tour that is taking me through Canada at the moment, I could have definitely left behind at least a half suitcase of wardrobe. Those cute new body con maxi dresses I splurged on, um not sure they pair too well with a ski jacket and snow boots. In just a few weeks, however, festival season inspires the best desert-bohemian fashion in retail across the globe with an overwhelming amount of options. Keep it simple. It’s hot as hell in Indio, California and unless you have an all access pass to trailers and catering it’s more or less a sweat fest from dawn til dusk. If I was a Coachella-ing this year what would I take? Honestly a few variations of this ensemble. A handful of bralettes for layering (in this case this adorable demiette from Ruby Ribbon) a few pairs of shorts, some layering kimono type wraps and shoes you can live in. Are you just living vicariously through bloggers’ fashion tips and wishing you had your own pair of Coachella passes? Well there’s just a few more days to enter Ruby Ribbon’s Coachella giveaway for weekend one! Tell us how much you love your festival fashion on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook and include the hashtags #rubyribbon, #demiette, and #festivalseason to be entered to win 2 weekend-one Summer Music Festival passes at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California! Include a picture of yourself in your Demiette styled for festival season and get an extra entry!
