I’m thrilled to share with you an awesome up-and-coming jewelry designer, Eclectic Star! Eclectic Star is a collection of handmade bohemian inspired accessories crafted solely in the South. In early 2012, creator Alisha Byrd began Eclectic Star as something that would reflect her passion for creating. I got the scoop from Alisha on what inspires her to create her jewelry and and glimpse into what she’s designing next!

Boho Bunnie: Many of your designs are inspired my music. Which artists or bands inspire your designs the most?

Eclectic Star: It all depends on the mood I’m in at the moment, but I would have to say a lot of it is influenced by artist like Calvin Harris and Kaskade. I don’t know what it is about EDM but whenever I’m having creators block I can turn on my playlist and I am INSTANTLY inspired.

Boho Bunnie: What are your favorite materials you use to create your jewelry?

Eclectic Star: Working with leather has to be my favorite. It’s a material that I honestly believe will never go out of style and its extremely versatile. Which is perfect because I try to make pieces that can be dressed up or down for any occasion.

Boho Bunnie: What made you take the big leap from a cushy 9-5 job to designing jewelry?

Eclectic Star: There were many factors that played a huge part in my decision but it all came down to what made me happy. I was miserable at my last job and found myself wanting to put all of my energy into Eclectic Star. After a horrible experience one day at work, I just knew without a doubt that I had to pursue my business full time for the sake of my own happiness and sanity.

Boho Bunnie: What are some new designs that we should look out for in Eclectic Star?

Eclectic Star: I’m so excited about some of the new ideas I have! I love working with beads but I am wanting to introduce more metals into the shop, which will include both necklaces and bracelets. A few small everyday pieces that you will be able to layer with your favorites.

I’m loving every single piece in her shop! Look out soon for a fashion post featuring one of Eclectic Star’s awesome bracelets!
