West Coast Tour & Friday’s Fab Favorites!

Camping in style for a weekend of Phish at the Gorge in Washington

SAMSUNG CSC

So this is officially my third summer attending a run of Phish shows, and tonight is our first night on the west coast tour! We just arrived at The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington (about 3 hours east of Seattle) and from past experience I am definitely prepared. The last summer that I was here, I swore up and down that all I would bring to the next Gorge camping experience was a bikini. Literally. This place gets ridiculously hot, as in 110 degrees and no shade. Basically like my Bikram yoga class but not for just and hour and a half…12 long hours of relentless sun and heat until it cools down and it’s perfect weather for an evening concert. So I took my own advice and packed for the heat!Continue reading…

Bold Boho in Primary Colors

Keepin it simple in primary colors

BentbyCourtney-cnpbags DSC_3277

I’m a sucker for bright and bold colors, but normally I pair magentas, shades of blues, neon-pastels and earth tones. When picking out accessories to go with this new dress, I was naturally drawn to the primary color palate which is totally unlike much of my wardrobe. But there’s something about the simplicity and the contrast that really convinced me to stick with red, blue and yellow (in this case gold). Maybe my newly dyed red locks had something to do with that:)

A Diamond in Downtown Los Angeles

Diamondonvinyl-downtown-filmfest-LA (11) Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles highlight–Diamond on Vinyl

SAMSUNG CSC

Last weekend Justin and I had the pleasure of attending the Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles to watch a feature film that a friend of ours, J.R. Hughto, wrote, directed and produced. It’s really amazing the amount of work and dedication that goes into making a movie, and it was awesome to be able to attend and support. The festival ran a course of 10 days from July 10th-20th, and showcased short and feature films alike. Diamond on Vinyl was originally premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and recently just won awards for Best Director and Best Ensemble Performance for the cast, from the Downtown Film Festival! Congrats, J.R.!Continue reading…

An inside look at MTV and Target’s Live-streaming Bullseye University with Brett Young

Brett-Young-BullseyeU-MTV DSC_2888

Just this past Thursday, July 18th, I got to perform live for MTV with an up and coming country artist, Brett Young! This whole concept was pretty rad! Bullseye University was set up by Target in conjunction with MTV to broadcast live, interactive, and yes an EXTREMELY addicting reality dorm life. The broadcast lasted July 15th-18th with a final concert by four bands: Brett Young, Dinner and a Suit, Royal Teeth, and Asher Monroe.Continue reading…

Pairing a delicate Free People dress with an edgy statement necklace

Free-People-Calico-Ghost-Town DSC_1745

I absolutely love the combination of these two styles! When I was going through my closet to pick out accessories for this dress, it was actually my boyfriend who suggested this necklace! I scored this necklace on a recent trip to Urban Outfitters from their sale jewelry rack. I’m almost embarrassed to tell you how much I spent…$4.99! I’m not normally a large necklace kind of gal (I can’t hold my fiddle under my chin with a bunch of stuff around my neck, and most days revolve around me performing or practicing) but for this price I couldn’t pass it up.Continue reading…

Ginger-Lemongrass Saison Cocktail

July 14, 2013

A delicious summer cocktail for craft beer & ginger lovers

Maui-brewing-company DSC_2643

I originally got the idea for this cocktail from an edition of Beer Advocate Magazine, one of my boyfriend’s monthly subscriptions. I love how they feature beer cocktails, and every once in a while some unique vegan and veggie recipes too! While some of their cocktails recipes are pretty intense (I have a list I’m going to tackle) others give you quick suggestions on basic ingredients to mix. I love how these cocktails work so well for beer lovers and non-beer lovers alike. Besides the tasty craft beer that’s involved, the mixers take away from the “beer” taste and basically leave you with an delicious effervescent libation.

What you’ll need:

  • Maui Brewing Company Lemongrass Saison (other saisons, pale ales, or beers with a light, fruity taste will work)
  • Reed’s Ginger Beer (this in non-alcoholic)
  • Lemon
  • Fresh GingerContinue reading…

Boho 72 Boutique

Boho 72 (14)

In love with central Ohio boutique, Boho 72!

Boho 72 (2)

During one of my final days in Ohio before returning to LA, I had to stop at my favorite little boutique–Boho 72! This adorable boho-inspired shop is located in my hometown, Dublin, Ohio. Jamie Mollwitz opened this shop in 2011 with the help of her family, including her daughter (and friend of mine from middle and high school) Clair Salter. So not only do I get to pick up some awesome threads to take back to LA, I get to catch up with a good friend!Continue reading…
