Montreal was the last stop of my world travels that began in March. I’m so fortunate that my music career has allowed me the opportunity to see the world! Although I just performed one night in Montreal, I flew in a day early to see the city and meet with a local Montreal photographer for a proper shoot in the city. I had absolutely no idea how Parisian this city is! The people, the food, the cafes, shops, all took me back to my trip to Paris over ten years ago. My high school French classes started to kick in and I drank at least three soy cappuccinos each day, all from different cafes. Oh, and the sangria. How about a pitcher of that every evening?! The perfect blush colored maxi slip from Free People made me feel like a 40’s starlet in a French romance film as I walked the cobblestone streets of this beautiful city.Continue reading…
My Baby Blue
The special love I had for you, my baby blue.
That special love I have this season is definitely for anything maxi. I couldn’t be happier just literally throwing on a gorgeous Hale Bob halter dress and walking out the door with a complete look. The prints this season that Hale Bob is producing are absolutely stunning and really only require a few simple and classy pieces to accessorize. I have to admit, I’ve driven by the Hale Bob billboard in West Hollywood for YEARS lusting over every new editorial they showcase and it’s such a wonderful feeling to be able to own a piece from their line. Po’olenalena Beach
Aloha from Maui
It’s been a crazy 12 weeks of traveling! I keep looking back at my calendar and can’t believe all of the amazing places I’ve been able to travel to this year. Most of which have been my first visit! Hawaii is one of those firsts for me. I had the wonderful opportunity to perform on the island for an extravagant Indian wedding AND have some downtime to relax. I even had time send out emails and write blog posts from an ocean front patio (with a little help from homemade rum runners) and of course play in front of the camera with a wonderful local Maui photographer. All while wearing a dress that couldn’t be more fitting for the islands by Pachamama Bohemian & the ultimate beach slide-ons from the Avarca Store. This outfit was seriously my uniform for the week. Bugenvilas, enchanting banyan trees and of course the serene beaches of the islands are so picturesque for everything Maui, and I’m grateful I got to capture the beauty of the islands for my blog!Continue reading…
Free People Escapes
Free People Escapes with Yogascapes
Tucked away in the middle of California desert highways is a beautiful little escape that brings me back to my summers growing up in northern Ohio and Michigan. I can’t get over that this type of natural greenery exists just 90 minutes outside of Los Angeles. Trying to convey a Berkshires, Massachusetts vibe, I couldn’t think of a better location to shoot my collaboration with Free People. Lake Gregory, near Big Bear, is such a sweet little mountain town with lots of character and a midwest way of living. After a full day of shooting in the most stunning natural locations (and even an adorable little laundry mat) I even got down on some fantastic vegan Mexican food! Next trip to Big Bear definitely requires an eclectic little cabin rental!Continue reading…
29 Palms
Desert livin.
Maybe it’s because I’m from Ohio and expect to see flat roads lined with corn fields whenever I take a road trip that I am so enamored with any type of desert life. This was my first trip to Joshua Tree and 29 Palms and looking out the car window, I must have commented on at least 50 rad locations that I could stop for a photo shoot. Faded pastel colors, vintage desert art, small abandoned homes sitting in the middle of nowhere, I can’t get enough. We opted for this amazingly cute air bnb in 29 Palms which is why I ended up venturing to the 29 Palms Inn. Great vegan options in the middle of the desert btw! Just the week before I left I serendipitously met the owner and designer of Tejido Shop mailing this exact jumpsuit at the post office. Of course it caught my eye and I wanted to be wearing it that second! I was able to take this rad jumpsuit with me to the desert and I honestly can’t wait to own this piece in a handful of colors.Continue reading…
NOLA Jazz & Heritage Festival 2016
NOLA 2016
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has to be my favorite music festival by far. Just the fact that it’s in New Orleans makes this festival ten times better than any other festival out there. That’s right, Coachella, NOLA has you beat. There’s the major headliners and tons of acts to catch throughout the day but the real action happens after hours where music packs every single club in the French Quarter. Over the course of two days I documented my adventures through NOLA for the Radisson Red Instagram account. A little sight-seeing, vegan grub, a tarot card reading and of course music!Continue reading…
Sky Above, Earth Below, Fire Within
Every year around this time I feel especially grateful for my yoga practice. It was almost exactly eight years ago today that I decided to make a complete lifestyle change. I was extremely active with competitive sports growing up, I played field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, ran cross country, track and field, enough sports to guess I was the biggest jock in high school. In fact I was so far from that with all of my music and art related activities that when I left high school and started a rigorous music conservatory training that working out was the absolute last thing on my list. I would take smoke breaks during my 8 hour practice sessions, attend regular happy hour events and one summer while attending Aspen Music Festival for nine weeks, I made a pact to drink with my friends every single night. Heavily. I’m assuming this isn’t much different from most people’s college experience but moving to LA sure as hell didn’t help. I was running amongst the socialites at all the hot night clubs and would be at after hours parties multiple days a week until the sun came up. Do I regret any of this? Absolutely not! Did it need to stop? In the worst way ever, yes! My friend took me to a Bikram yoga class which was probably the most intense work out I had ever experienced next to my two-a-day summer field hockey practices running suicides in 90 degree weather and thick humidity. Bikram was the one thing I knew would kick my ass and get me back in gear. In May 2008 I started attending yoga class 5 days a week and I had literally never felt better. I’ve been hooked on yoga ever since and feel so grateful for the instructors that pushed me back into a healthy lifestyle. So naturally I’m a sucker for anything yoga related and these rad threads from Arima Yoga Wear are no exception.Continue reading…
Drinkin’ and Dreamin’
Drink ’til I’m dreamin’ a thousand miles out of my mind.
“Let’s get drunk and be somebody!” A favorite phrase of my aunt’s that brings me back to summer pontoon boat cruises in Michigan with my family. Coolers packed with booze and bloody mary mix were the most important carry on while we floated down the lake with nothing to do except pick up dockside pizza. It’s been a crazy month of travel and work non stop but luckily I can fit a little play in as well. The first night I made it to Joshua Tree we rushed outside after the storm as the sun was setting, cracked a few beers and snapped some photos. There’s nothing better than raw, in the moment types of shoots especially in a rad Canadian tuxedo-esque Stoned Immaculate jumpsuit.Continue reading…
Blue Bayou
The silver moon, and the evening tide.
Maxi dresses are such a summer staple in my wardrobe. Nothing is easier than throwing on one complete piece and dressing it down with some boots or dressing it up with some heels. Hale Bob has the bohemian resort look down to a T. Gorgeous chiffon caftans, draping maxis, and bold printed minis make up this summer’s line. Comfortable enough wear while running errands and elegant enough to wear out a beachfront dinner date. I could literally live in these pieces. On vacation or home in Los Angeles, Hale Bob dresses are one of my new must-haves.Continue reading…
