Make, age and bottle your own vanilla extract!
Way back in May, I did a post on how to make your own vanilla extract. Well, these bottles have been aging in the cabinet for the past seven months and it was time to bottle these babies up! With a little photo shop creativity and the perfect mini brown bottle, Justin and I created our very first batch of Bohemian Bunnie brand vanilla extract in 2 flavors–rum and vodka!
Tucked away in the darkest cabinet, this bottle of aged rum and Madagascar vanilla beans saw daylight for the first time last week. Just in time to bottle up for Christmas.
After the spirits and vanilla beans have aged anywhere from three months to a year, you’re ready to filter the extract. We used two easy things laying around the house…cheese cloth and a Keurig mesh coffee filter.
The house smelled like I just baked cookies with all of these rum-soaked beans!
We filtered the extract twice and then used the little funnel for the Keurig to bottle the extract in the sanitized bottles. Justin got creative with his drying method!
Labels printed and ready to go! Each bottle got its own special edition number.
Check back for more flavors from Bohemian Bunnie labs coming soon!

This is great!! Where dd you get the bottles from? And did you age the vanilla in the bottles or in a larger container?
