NOLA 2016
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has to be my favorite music festival by far. Just the fact that it’s in New Orleans makes this festival ten times better than any other festival out there. That’s right, Coachella, NOLA has you beat. There’s the major headliners and tons of acts to catch throughout the day but the real action happens after hours where music packs every single club in the French Quarter. Over the course of two days I documented my adventures through NOLA for the Radisson Red Instagram account. A little sight-seeing, vegan grub, a tarot card reading and of course music!
Cast iron horse head hitching posts line the streets of the French Quarter and the Garden District.
Gas lanterns light up the streets of The French Quarter keeping the tradition from the late 1700’s and make for extra romantic outdoor dining.
Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo and window of mysticism. Talismans, charms, dolls, statues, everything you could possibly need to for a true NOLA voodoo experience.
Any pub with ‘bourbon’ in the title is a pub of mine! Original hand-carved signs mark the entrances to your favorite watering holes.
Pick your potion at the The Maple Leaf bar!
Street performances literally on every corner throughout The French Quarter.
Rain or shine, I’ve got my wellies!
The end of the first day at Jazz Fest! Managed to stay dry and caught a killer set from Tedeschi Trucks Band! It’s only 7 pm and there’s 10 more hours (literally!) of live music to catch throughout the city before you sleep, wake up and repeat!
Day 2: But first, coffee. And maybe a beignet. Unfortunately I had to pass on those delicious little powdered sugar drops of heaven since they’re not vegan but indulged in a fresh brew from Cafe Du Monde.
Sweet sounds of NOLA jazz in the French Quarter.
Crystals, potions and talismans & tarot. I couldn’t have picked a better city for my first tarot reading ever by NOLA clairvoyant Miss JT Star. Despite being dealt the ‘worst’ card in the deck, my future looks pretty darn good according to Miss Star.
Literally every structure in this city has character and a story behind it.
A little southern sass along the streets of the French Quarter. Can I just take these buildings home for more Boho Bunnie shoots? So much character and so picturesque.
Picking up a dance lesson from this ever so charming eclectic street performer on my way into the fair grounds.
First order of business upon arrival into the fest…Jama Jama and fried plantains! That and spicy tofu over couscous made for a little piece of vegan heaven.
Last stop of the evening at Tipitina’s. It’s 5 am and yes, of course the band is still jammin!
Rubbing the bust of piano wizard and NOLA legend, Professor Longhair at @tipitinasuptown for good luck! And hopes of returning very soon to the Big Easy!
Thank you Radisson Red for sponsoring this post!
