Clip-in hair extensions are a the perfect compliment to any look. And what’s so cool about clip-ins is that you can put them in and style them yourself! (Hair and make-up in the above picture by yours truly and photo cred to my bf, Justin Zangerle).
The popularity of hair extensions has grown tremendously over the past 10 years. It’s rare to spot a celebrity on the red carpet sporting only her natural hair. With the high demand for amazing goddess-like manes, it’s now easier than ever before to turn your limp-less hair into luscious locks. The Hair Shop in Los Angeles is the mecca of all shops dedicated to anything that has to do with hair. They have been serving clients in LA for over 20 years and have established themselves as a leader in providing 100% human hair extensions, wigs, hairpieces and tools. Their clientele is made up of leading stylists from all over the world! Naturally, this is the only place I buy my clip-in hair extensions.
I mean look at this WALL of extensions!! Literally every color imaginable. Pinks, purples, blondes, reds, blues, you name it. What’s so fabulous about this color selection, is that since they have so many colors to choose from you don’t have to dye the extensions to match your hair. My hair dresser always comes up with a perfect concoction of red that she uses in my hair, and yes, there’s always a perfect red to match it:)
So the accessory line…eyelashes for days, ombre extensions, and bun donuts to make the PERFECT high bun. That amazing look you’ve been seeing everywhere…yup it comes from a little object that looks like it could scrub your pots. This high bun is sported by the gorgeous Kate Bosworth.
Comparing our red hair selections, the employees at the Hair Shop are so helpful. They’ll pull down all your color options to compare. Fanesia (my amazing hair stylist who you probably met in my previous hair post) always joins me to help pick out the best color option. Isn’t she the best?!
Perfect match!!
So a few pointers from Fanesia:
1) Obviously 100% human hair is the way to go. You can style it just like your own hair.
2) Don’t worry about straight or curly when choosing your hair, since it’s human hair, you can straighten it or curl it to match your own.
3) The most important thing is to pick the correct color, make sure you hold it up directly next to your own hair. If you can’t find an EXACT match, then a little lighter is the way to go, it looks more natural.
4) 16″ is the average length that people purchase. This is the length I always choose. It’s just long enough so that it still looks natural. You can always trim the hair to slightly shorter if you’re only looking to add volume and not length.
Look at how beautifully that blonde matches! And this epic braid…for your head or waist?! Ha!
Bangs anyone? That’s right…clip-in bangs! I actually have some bangs at home, but from when I was a brunette. If you can’t commit, for around $100 you can have temporary new ‘do.
Part 3 of my hair series is coming soon…Fanesia and I did a video tutorial on how to put in these clip-ins I bought at the Hair Shop, style with loose boho waves, using hair chalk, etc. Excited to share with you, stay tuned!!

Very cool! I’ll have to check this place out! I’ve always wanted bangs but was too afraid to commit. Maybe clip in bangs are the way to go!

Thanks!! I’ll have to do a post about the bangs…when you clip them in right, they actually look really amazing! The pic from the shop doesn’t do them justice:)

Thanks for this post! My hair is too fine to grow long (and not look scraggly). I had extensions applied by a pro but I think clip-ins might be better. The glue was damaging.
