A delicious summer cocktail for craft beer & ginger lovers
I originally got the idea for this cocktail from an edition of Beer Advocate Magazine, one of my boyfriend’s monthly subscriptions. I love how they feature beer cocktails, and every once in a while some unique vegan and veggie recipes too! While some of their cocktails recipes are pretty intense (I have a list I’m going to tackle) others give you quick suggestions on basic ingredients to mix. I love how these cocktails work so well for beer lovers and non-beer lovers alike. Besides the tasty craft beer that’s involved, the mixers take away from the “beer” taste and basically leave you with an delicious effervescent libation.
What you’ll need:
- Maui Brewing Company Lemongrass Saison (other saisons, pale ales, or beers with a light, fruity taste will work)
- Reed’s Ginger Beer (this in non-alcoholic)
- Lemon
- Fresh Ginger
Mix half a can of Maui Brewing Company Lemongrass Saison with a half bottle of Reed’s Ginger Beer. I LOVE ginger so I always get the “extra ginger” variety. Maui Brewing company has some amazing flavors and all of their beer comes in cans for environmental and taste reasons. I especially like their Coconut Porter; I’m dreaming up another beer cocktail recipe as I type!
Squeeze a little lemon…use juice from about a quarter of a lemon.
Shave some fresh ginger…
And drop it into the beer. If you hate having float-y things in your cocktails, you can skip this step but it really didn’t bother me because the ginger pieces are so fine. They actually keep the carbonation going in the drink! You can also pour this cocktail over ice and sip through a straw.
Enjoy on a warm summer evening! Cheers!
Linking up to Funday Monday!
