A pioneer in the puppyverse

The days of scaring the post master away are over. Our little white nugget, Bowie, can smell her PupBox from a mile away. A connoisseur of specialized doggie treats and toys, Bowie knows a well-crafted chew toy or the perfect organic chicken treat at first sniff. Our leggy white stallion will give you the run-down of her first PupBox.Continue reading…

She’s tryin’ to make a devil out of me.

Novella-royale-french-quarter-voodoo-jazz-fest DSC_7491

It was my first trip to NOLA last weekend and I’m already trying to figure out when I can get back. That city has such an abundance of culture and history. I knew that before I left, but there’s just something in the air when you walk through the French Quarter. The uneven brick, rod iron porches, street musicians, boutiques I could spend hours in, the tarot card readers…every square inch of that city has a story to tell. My first walk down Bourbon Street was at 2:30 am on a Thursday night, and after a long talk with a bartender I came to the conclusion that Bourbon Street is a mix of Amsterdam’s red light district and Vegas stuffed into a very small alley. With way more drunk people. I mean completely toasted out of their mind.Continue reading…

Gettin down in the Big Easy

SAMSUNG CSC

Knowing little about Jazz Fest and New Orleans in general, Justin and I booked our plane tickets on a whim when Phish announced they would be headlining the first weekend of jazz fest. After a whirlwind weekend of music, mint juleps, and festival fare I’m ready to book my trip for next year. And I thought Vegas was the party town…boy did I get that wrong. On our first walk down Bourbon Street at 2 am, every third person could barely put one foot in front of the other.Continue reading…

Strawberry Fields Forever

Shortcake anyone?

tapia-strawberry-farms-gypsy-junkies-free-people DSC_6917

It couldn’t be more fitting…on Earth Day last Monday, Justin and I visited a farmer’s market we’ve never been to, ate fresh picked strawberries from their field and hand-picked our own lettuce straight from the earth. Tapia Bros. Farm is literally just around the corner from us in Encino and I’m kicking myself for waiting this long to visit. I can honestly say I’ve never had better strawberries or salad made with their romaine.  It was pretty hard trying not to eat half of the bucket of berries while doing this shoot!Continue reading…

Daisies before dusk

Planning my poolside festival wear for Coachella last weekend, I paired these two awesome pieces from American Apparel. Not normally my first place to shop when searching for new boho threads, I was definitely surprised to find this rad combo that works day to night. I’m obsessed with onesies right now, and this little daisy piece is definitely going to get some wear at jazz fest this weekend in New Orleans! Continue reading…

Barefoot gypsy giveaway

This oasis in the middle of the desert was the perfect ending to our Coachella weekend. Car loaded and ready to make the trip back to LA, Justin and I discovered this bohemian haven within Palm Springs. Perfect for barefoot sandals in the sand, bright harem pants, headbands and gypsy jewels. What made this mystical canyon even more special is that we share the same name…Andreas Canyon! If I could only spend my afternoons here with rum cocktails swinging in a large rope hammock. You can recreate your own island oasis with a $50 giveaway to Hippies Hope Shop at the bottom of this post!Continue reading…

Here’s the scoop on this super stylish midwestern chick who leaves you with a feel-good heartfelt story every time you visit her blog. Love what you see in her photos? Vegan chocolate bliss

Two of my favorite foods: chocolate and avocado. Ever since moving to California, I order avocado on EVERYTHING. Being vegan for four years, I always make sure I get my daily dose of healthy fats. Coconut and avocado are two of my favorite sources. I’ve seen recipes and tasted the samples at the Whole Foods Vitamix demonstrations of this famous chocolate-avocado combination and I finally got around to trying it out for myself. I’m excited to share that from start to clean-up, this recipe will take you less than 10 minutes! Time is always a major deciding factor in my food preparation…anything more than 15 minutes and there’s a good chance I won’t do it.Continue reading…

Deep-v onesies…honestly I can’t dream up a sexier piece of swimwear. I’ve been in love with every single one of these rad designs by Pacific and Driftwood. It makes me want to live in the month of July forever. And it’s not just the perfect cut outs that make this one-piece the hottest item you’ll own, it’s the vintage band tees that they’re made out of that makes them completely unique and a must have for any music groupie.Continue reading…
