The dark side of the epic Cakeland LA installation. A padded room with disco lights, luscious fabrics and a larger than life black forest cake of my dreams. The perfect scene to debut some neon yellow tiger stripped stiletto cowboy booties. And what’s one without the other? Of course paired with a Planet Cowboy hat and a stunning vegan leather tie front dress from Jennafer Grace. Cakeland LA

Everything is better with sprinkles on top

This past April I got to shoot at Cakeland LA, the magical immersive dreamscape of floor-to-ceiling cakes designed and created by artist Scott Hove. Scott has been creating cake themed art since 2005 and just this past March 2020 opened a permanent display in Chinatown, downtown Los Angeles. The details are so incredibly impressive, the paint frosting looks like it can be licked straight off the walls. Scott’s mission statement is “to give viewers a transcendent art experience using his take on traditional and natural themes of beauty, with classical design principles, color and pattern found in nature, and spiritual depth.” There is certainly so much spiritual depth in this installation, Scott’s creativity and attention to detail is exceptional. Adriana Sahar’s delicious Paris Hilton-esque dress was so fitting for the beautiful pastel cake palettes at Cakeland’s ‘The Beauty War‘ photographed by Angela Izzo.

Ripple

“If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine”

I am so excited to premiere my newest single and video “Ripple” by Grateful Dead! Audio recorded, edited, engineered, mixed and produced by Teddy Jack & myself, and video directed and produced by Angela Izzo, @izzoimages. As many of you may know I’ve been a fan of the Dead since my teens. My pedal steel playing is heavily influenced by Jerry Garcia’s playing (I taught myself this instrument by learning all of Jerry’s iconic pedal steel solos). It was about this time last year in the middle of the lockdown that I sat down at my steel and started figuring out some of my favorite melodies. “Ripple” came to mind and I arranged this song over the course of many late night highly caffeinated practice sessions (my favorite type). I wanted my version of the song to have a loose, nostalgic feeling so I chose to record it as one take without a click, letting the musicality dictate my timing. Angela’s vision for the music video was spot on, creating trippy prism shots and floral overlays. And in true Boho Bunnie fashion, I chose to include some of my very favorite designers and shops for my look including jewelry by Rose & Bolt, dress from The Lotus Boutique, and hat and boots by Planet Cowboy. And for you gear heads, I’m using the Keeley Electronics Caverns x Bohemian Bunnie special edition Delay/Reverb pedal!

If I had to pick one thing to wear around the house til the end of time it would be Clare Bare. No joke, I’m slowly building a collection that matches every room of my home. Made from recycled and upcycled materials, Clare Bare designs these incredible pieces out of her Los Angeles studio. Everything that Clare designs is absolute gold!

What else do you wear in a 1920’s Spanish tiled bathroom? I couldn’t dream up more comfortable, flattering and undeniably sexy lingerie. Clare Bare has a magic touch with everything she creates. Handmade with so much love in Los Angeles, her pieces are true art. Clare uses lots of vintage fabric with her designs and just recently made this black satin part of her regular collection. The perfect twist on the basic black set.

Just this past week I got to make some magic with the amazing Angela Izzo photographing designs from our absolute favorite lingerie designer, Clare Bare. Clare is releasing a few limited edition styles made from new vintage fabrics she’s been collecting over the past year, and I had the honor of musing for Angela in these custom designs. Clare’s work is incredible…hadmade in Los Angeles and seriously the most comfortable garments I own. And this vintage mini daisy print I just can’t get over!

Once Upon a Time in the West

Desert scapes & sound scapes

The west will always have my heart. I just completed a week long road trip across the country and I had such a feeling of relief at the first sign of deserted landscapes, dusty roads, and little pioneer towns. I’d buy a whole western shop out of their moccasin collection if I could. Anything beaded and fringed gets extra points. Styling western pieces is my favorite, I’m always on the lookout for vintage western anything. A few staple pieces from Planet Cowboy, Ebb & Flow by Ty, and Setara Jewelry compliment this vintage suede poncho so well that it became the look of my recent single release: “Once Upon a Time in the West” by Ennio Morricone.

It is almost five years to the month that Ashley Marie Myers and I shot in the dry lake bed for the first time ever. A day that anything and everything just completely lined up, and is still one of our favorite shoots ever. Planet alignments (literally), a lightening storm and a meeting by absolute chance. It was only fitting that the one shoot we’ve gotten to do this year was at our very fist meeting place. Vegas in the summer is always some form of unbearable but this soft and airy Tulle & Batiste kimono is fit for any type of desert heat. Delicate Setara Jewelry jewels are the perfect touch of gold shimmer that drape so effortlessly. And Planet Cowboy hats and boots are kinda my everyday staple.

Tulle & Batiste…can you make a monthly kimono subscription? I could live in this.

I think I’ve worn this evil eye pendant by Setara Jewelry almost every day this month. The prettiest emerald green jeweled center is the most perfect touch.

Quaran-glam

Glam in the times of no one giving a shit about glam

Surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly) my unemployed life has remained fairly busy. Working on recordings, practicing, creating content for Katie & Andrea, painting, organizing, planning a Boho Bunnie empire, frozen cocktailing, neglected plant watering, unemployment filing, TikTok tutorial-ing (yes I’ve succumbed, find me @bohobunnie), occasional yoga-ing, daily walking, million dollar house hunting, weekly road tripping around Los Angeles, front lawn sunbathing, the ever delayed task of tax preparing. Unfortunately as a performing musician, dare I say we may have it the worst as far as returning to any type of normal career in the foreseeable future. It’s been a few months of looking on ways to reshape my career…lots of ideas have been floating around. Inevitably there will be some great shifts that come from this, but that doesn’t discount the days of pure despair. Which brings me to another of my favorite things to do during this quarantine. Dress the fuck up. Why? Honestly changing out of my oversized everything and into something fun gives me a task, makes me feel creative, and forces me to dig into the depths of my garage and shop for items I already own. Like finally wearing these fishnet socks I got in Italy two years ago. Thanks to Boho Lizzy and The Good Wolf for the ultimate in indoor glam with layered jewels and a beaded smoking jacket.
