I love fashion born out of unique personal experience, where the creator’s life informs the pieces they create. You can always feel the difference. For Vanessa Sitara her inspiration came traveling through India. She visited the country’s small villages, rich culture and foods. The result of this life-altering experience is her clothing line Hippy Heart. There’s a grounded but otherworldly quality to the pieces that are so unique! These vegan-leather flares have energy in every step that makes you NEED to give your most badass stride. The top is cropped wool with a flowing back and a chiffon duster. This piece, like the flares, has killer movement. The oversized cut of the top is very flattering and cropped in just the right spot. I like any clothes that make you feel like you’ve been hitting the gym just by putting them on! Tapia Bros Farm

This particular day of shooting happened to be one of those days where everything just lined up. My favorite little farmer’s stand was actually closed for winter but just happened to have their gates open and the owners happily welcomed our little entourage to roam freely and shoot. About 5 minutes into shooting we were summoned over to a little area of the farm where a baby lamb had just been born and we witnessed him take his first steps. Such a beautiful start to spring! Good Day Sunshine

I love her and she’s loving me.

So many of my favorite things happen in the spring…bunnies, hyacinth, Easter jelly beans, beginning of boots and shorts season, and my birthday. With the blog, spring and summer fashion planning started back in November for me, but I remember the excitement at age 12 shopping for spring break clothes and getting the first glimpse of summer trends. A long time friend of mine from those middle school days of wanting to live at Contempo Casuals, The Limited Too, and basically trying to emulate everything Cher from ‘Clueless’ is still on the fashion train with me. Layers and movement. Nothing is more appealing to slip into than a dress that flounces with every step. Mixing with layers is something I definitely want to do more of especially after my trip to Japan. After a personalized tour of the designers at Dover Street Market Ginza, Japanese fashion makes me want to up my game on every level. I’m talking rad printed pants, under skirt, under kimono, under printed shirt, under a white leather moto jacket. Amazing! Eclectic Mixing with Shopbop.

I’ve always been a sucker for the ultimate vintage find. When one of the most complimented pieces in your closet comes from the $10 table of your favorite vintage vendor at the flea market, it’s better than the first day of markdowns on the Nordstrom shoe rack. All these items kinda came together in a fun, quirky way. Some of these bangles my mom used to rock in the 70’s, the denim jacket was the best hand-me-down I’ve every received, and the dress was in fact one of those $10 purchases. All mixed together with some modern jewels, platforms and designer moonies. Inspired by the Modern Magpie collection of Shopbop, this outfit was a fun experiment of how far I could play around this look. And just in time for spring Shopbopping…

There’s something about this Bob Dylan song that will always have a special place in my heart. It wasn’t until only this past summer that I started getting into Dylan after performing the cover “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” with a good friend and brilliant singer-songwriter, Marchelle Bradanini. “You’e Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” is my new Dylan favorite.
