One of my favorite bands at the moment, Alabama Shakes
Whenever we can, Justin and I try to catch live music around LA as much as possible. LA is so saturated with live music, it’s easy to take your pick. But being a musician myself, it’s difficult to find days or nights to set aside when I don’t have band practice or a gig myself. I’ve been digging Alabama Shakes debut album, Boys & Girls, since it came out so I was stoked to hear they were rollin through Hollywood this summer!
Justin has a passion for photographing musicians and bands. I love it when he brings his cameras to shows. Until he gets a contract with a big artist, he’s the official photographer of my band, Jayar 🙂
Brittany Howard’s voice has that dirty, soulful Janis Joplin feel. Their songs have a 1960’s soul vibe that move you deep down to your core.
A few shots hanging out in the Palladium before the show. This venue, like so many other Hollywood structures, has so much history. It was home to Frank Sinatra when it first opened in the 1940’s. It still has a bunch of awesome art deco elements from the original construction that cost $1.6 million in the 40’s! A handful of Grammy awards in the 70’s were shot here, along with scenes from movies including one of my favorites, Almost Famous.
We don’t leave a concert without a poster purchase. The front room in our house is dedicated to all of the concert posters we’ve been collecting. The goal is to cover every inch of the walls in posters…with the 17 Phish shows and tons of other acts we’ve seen together, we’re well on our way there:)

I like the images! Being a professional photographer I know it could
be hard to find the right shots although they are wonderful.
I prefer a few Lightroom presets to help keep some uniformity in my own.
