My current libation of choice.
There’s nothing like pouring a delicious cocktail at the end of the day and sitting down to create some late night music. I’ve been a gin drinker for a while now and have recently developed a taste for bourbon and scotch. Maybe it’s all the bourbon barrel craft beers that Justin and I go through in our house, or the late night hangs after shows with my band mates and sipping on scotch til we close down the bar. The perfect pairing of my two liquor loves comes in a form called Ransom Old Tom Gin. Literally gin aged in bourbon barrels. When I’m on tour, the hotel we always stay at keeps this bottle in stock for me…no joke! Bragging rights for rock star status? Or just more incentive from the bar for me to spend all of my per diem? I’d like to think it’s the first assumption:)
Ingredients are SUPER simple. Ransom gin, tonic of your choice, (I like Fever-Tree) Angostura bitters, and lime.
A tip for pouring any type of cocktail…make sure the ice goes to the top of the glass. The booze melts the ice a lot more than you’d think.
A good way to start making this cocktail is to use equal parts of gin and tonic. Honestly, I like to taste my liquor so I normally opt for a couple splashes of tonic. This liquor is SO tasty, I could even drink it on the rocks which is hard to do with most other gins.
Add 5 or 6 drops of bitters. Obviously more or less, whatever you prefer, but that’s a good starting point.
I’m taking my final sips of this very cocktail in the photo as I type. Off to write some music, cheers!
